About me

Hi my name is Nick Quagliara. I am an Experience Designer. I graduated from the Human-Computer Interaction Design Master’s program at Indiana University in 2007 and now am enjoying life as a professional Designer.

Although I am relatively new to this field, I have a lot of energy and thoughts on how to approach Design. I believe that we have a mutual relationship with technologies that shape both society and the artifacts we create. I believe that the power of artifacts demand that we as Designers look at the rhetorical and ethical implications of our creations.

During my professional and academic life, I have seen that people are passionate about the information technologies they use. People shouldn’t have to suffer through functional software that largely ignores the user experience. Information technologies are not passive tools.  They become a part of our identity.

I know I am still green as a Designer but I want to be able to help shape our field. I have a lot of respect for those that have come before me, but I also think it’s important to question assumptions about the way to design. I’m still finding my way, trying new things, figuring it out as I go along, and being reflective about my practice as a Designer.
